How is it that the poor people education been a factor through history and limits minorities from going to school? Well because of the
lack of resources, school don’t get a lot of money which means they don’t have enough to have after school programs to keep kids out of
the streets. Families with low socioeconomic status often lack the financial, social, and educational supports that characterize families with
high socioeconomic status. Poor families also may have inadequate or limited access to community resources that promote and support
children’s development and school readiness. Parents may have inadequate skills for such activities as reading to and with their children,
and they may lack information about childhood immunization and nutrition. Zill, Collins, West, and Hausken (1995) state “low maternal
education and minority-language status are most consistently associated with fewer signs of emerging literacy”. Having inadequate
resources and limits access to available resources can negatively affect families’ decision regarding their young children’s development and
learning. Children and families living in poverty are at greater risk of hunger, homelessness, sickness, physical, and mental disabilities,
violence, teen parenthood, Family Street, and educational failure. These environmental factor are contributes to children that live in poverty
being four times more likely to have learning disabilities than non-poverty students (Apple & Zenk, 1996). According to Casanova, Garcia-
Linares, Torre and Carpio (2005), it is a combination of these environmental factors as well as family influence that contributes to student’s
academic success. Children coming from poverty are not provided the same tools as the wealthy; they are entering schools already behind
those not living in similar conditions. According to Li-Grining (2007), research suggests that the problem starts with the parents and their
lack of education and understanding of the needs of children. As a result, children from families with low socioeconomic status are at
greater risk of entering kindergarten unprepared than their peers from families with median of high socioeconomic status. The reason why
is because the parents do not have jobs, no one to depend in and also because of their education in which they did not attend college, so
less likely the kids are going to do the same thing, and also because they don’t have much support and encouragement from others. And
that’s been happening throughout history, from generations, so what is it that the people in society could do to change this problem? First
off, parents and teachers should give children enough support and motivation in order for them to have a good education, and ensure that
they could have a successful career in the future. But since society has a majority of parents who are unemployed and can’t afford to pay
expenses, they are most likely not able to pay for their child’s education at all. All of this could be the negative impact in the future
generation of students due to the lack of knowledge from parents, but what about the parents that do have a higher education than other?
They have to do their best to put their kids through school and encourage them to go to school. And the school for those kids rewards them
with extracurricular and programs to keep themselves occupied.
How do the poor people in a community affect the children by doing the negation the negative activities instead of g\doing the
positive? People in society are surrounded by such negative people and negative thoughts, it’s no wonder why staying positive can be
challenge. The negative vibes can ever come from those closest to you but you can overcome. The problem is that the community-
neighborhood doesn’t have that much of a good environment because we are affected by the following: Gangs, Drugs, and Violence. The
people in society struggle to get what they want in order for them to survive. But it could also be their lifestyle because there are people that
feel left out in and don’t have much love and care from others, and if they are raised around negativity in their household or neighborhood,
then it could be a good chance that they won’t really care about their future. Unlike the children that live in a good home and a good
environment most likely the suburbs they don’t have to go through that because they have plenty of attention and keep themselves
occupied from making bad decisions. Throughout history these types of problems affect both African Americans and Hispanics; the next
generation is getting worse by taking a toll over what’s going on in the community. Therefore, everything is getting more severe and
destructive, everyone is against each other’s, and it’s hard to trust the next person that comes into your life others. However if they put their
hearts and mind into want they want to accomplish and achieve in life, most likely, they are going to have a better way of predicting their
selves unlike other in their community.
The government plays a role by having to offer more job opportunities, and also they have to agree to what the US citizens want.
